Does my LASIK coverage include coverage for Presbyopic Multifocal LASIK (PML)?
Presbyopic Multifocal LASIK (also referred to as PML or PresbyLASIK) is a laser vision correction procedure that treats presbyopia by creating different power zones on the cornea. Because PML is still in the investigational stages in the US, OMIC recommends that physicians wait until PML obtains FDA approval before performing the procedure unless they are participating in clinical trials under an American IRB-approved protocol. As a reminder, clinical research or trials that are not conducted under and in accordance with an American IRB-approved protocol are specifically excluded under the policy.
