Risk Management Talks at Dean McGee Eye Institute

OMIC is pleased to present a series of free talks for Oklahoma ophthalmologists, their employed optometrists, and staff. All events will take place on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Dean McGee Eye Institute.

Physician Program

8:00 to 9:00 :   Grand Rounds  25 Years of Ophthalmic Malpractice Claims in Oklahoma by Anne M. Menke, RN, PhD, OMIC Risk Manager.

9:00 to 9:30     Breakfast reception/informal consultation with Dr. Menke

4:30 to 5:30     Wine and Cheese Reception

5:30 to 6:30     Panel Presentation “Ask OMIC.” Bring your questions about difficult patients, informed consent, telephone care, ER call, and other issues and pose them to OMIC Board and Committee Members Drs. Greg Skuta, Ann Warn, and Jean Hausheer, Dr. Mike Siatkowski, and OMIC Risk Manager Anne Menke.

These talks are open to all ophthalmologists and their employed optometrists. Physicians who attend Grand Rounds may obtain 1 hour of Category 1 CME and are eligible for an OMIC risk management premium discount. Physicians who attend the panel discussion are eligible for an OMIC risk management premium discount. CME is not available for this presentation.

2:00 to 3:00     The Role of Office Staff in Malpractice Claims

3:15 to 4:15     The Role of Office Staff in Malpractice Claims

OMIC Risk Manager Anne Menke, RN, PhD, will present a talk for staff. The talk will be given twice to ensure adequate staffing in the offices. The talk is free and open to staff members of Oklahoma ophthalmologists.

Location

The talks will take place in Coston Lecture Hall in Pavilion A on the 5th floor of the Dean McGee Eye Institute at 608 Stanton L. Young Boulevard in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Receptions are held at the same location in the library outside the lecture hall.
