What is the statute of limitations in my state?

The statute of limitations defines the period of time in which a plaintiff may legitimately file suit against a defendant. It may be based upon the amount of time that has elapsed since the date services were rendered or upon the date the alleged injury was discovered. Certain factors, such as allegations of fraud or intentional concealment, foreign objects left in the body, or professional services rendered to minors, may extend the amount of time a plaintiff has to legally file suit.
